Ailidh is the main character of my senior film about a girl and her violin. Heartstrings was a year-long project with a team of 10 students. The film has currently been displayed in 9 film festivals internationally.
This post's intention is to display my character model of Ailidh (responsible for all). Our characters were intended to have a painted look, and we played with many approaches to a painted lookdev. We landed on using MASH to distribute paint strokes that pick up their color based on vertexes - we were happy with the results! My main role in the film was the character and texture lead, and my complete list of personal responsibilities on the film have included character modeling, texturing, lighting, cloth simulation, layout, look development, and compositing. Due to restrictions from my university, the entire film is not available for viewing just yet, but I am excited to share some stills and breakdowns! Stay tuned... (sculpted in ZBrush, retopologized in Maya, and textured in Substance Painter).
Film festival selections include Across the Globe Film Festival, New York Flash Film Festival, The Cut Film Series, Animart Festival, Miami Independent Film Festival, NewFilmmakers New York, Mosaic Film Fest, Overmountain Animation Festival, & Columbus Moving Image Art Review.
